Announcing…the Vi Messerli Memorial Lectures in Church Music

Presenters include…

  • Markus Rathey, Institute of Sacred Music at Yale, on the development and early reception of the Lutheran chorale (Monday plenary).
  • Jeff Hunt, conductor of the St. Charles Singers (Tuesday choral plenary). 
  • Festival of Hymns by Paul D. Weber with Concordia’s Kapelle and Grace Lutheran Church’s Choir.
  • Rhonda Sider Edgington, organist, featuring chorale-based pieces and new music for the organ with percussion.
  • Monday night banquet with Paul Soulek, speaker, and presentation of the 2024 Richard Hillert Award in Student Composition and the 2024 William Wolfram Student Award in Liturgical Art.

Also workshops by Daniel Baker, Maurice Boyer, Phil Magness, Peter Reske, Nathan Sherill (David’s Harp), Paul Soulek, Paul Weber and Florence Jowers, and Emily Woock. Liturgical artist Samantha Bender, exhibits, reading sessions, and great conversations with fellow church musicians.
