Concordia University Chicago’s Bachelor of Science in nursing program (BSN) has earned accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education’s Board of Commissioners. “This is a monumental step in the development of the Concordia-Chicago BSN program and one that provides a great deal of pride to the program and to (Associate Director of Nursing) Laurie Zack and me,” says CUC Director of Nursing Kristen Bayer, MSN, APN, FNP-C. “We set our sights to not only create a valuable addition to the nursing education landscape in the Chicagoland area, but to seek to honor the nurses who provide care to those most vulnerable by adding high-quality, compassionate, practice-ready professionals to their dwindling numbers. While our work to build the program is ongoing, this stamp of approval goes a long way in the journey.”
The rigorous BSN program, which launched its first class in the fall of 2023, is steadily preparing students to serve on the front lines of health care and take on the daily challenges of a rewarding career guiding members of the community along the health care continuum. Through robust theoretical and experiential learning, students will be prepared to meet the eligibility requirements necessary to successfully gain licensure as a registered nurse generalist through completion of the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). The first students completing the program are set to graduate at the end of the upcoming fall semester.
Zack adds, “We are excited to continue to build on Concordia-Chicago’s long history of preparing student leaders to answer the call and impact the world with their gifts and talents, especially during this tumultuous time in our health care history. Our students are ready and willing to make a difference.”
