Concordia to host Break Beat Poetics, a spoken word poetry event

On Tuesday, April 3, the Department of Foundations and Social Policy and the Office of Multicultural Student Engagement will host Break Beat Poetics, a spoken word poetry event.
The event will be held in the Chapel of Our Lord at 7 p.m.. The event is sponsored by the Department of Foundations and Social Policy and the Office of Multicultural Student Engagement.
The evening promises to offer a dynamic performance from two critically acclaimed poets.
Kevin Coval is the author of slingshots: a hip-hop poetica, and his most recent collection, L-vis Lives! Racemusic Poems. He has performed across the country and on four continents and is a co-founder of Louder Than a Bomb, the largest youth poetry festival in the world.
Idris Goodwin is an award-winning playwright, poet, essayist, and performer. "These Are the Breaks," his recent debut collection of essays, was nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
