Distinguished Service Award

Established in 2010, the Distinguished Service Award is an honor bestowed on a member of the CougarCorps for their extraordinary dedication to Concordia University Chicago. Criteria include proven loyalty to the University measured in volunteer service and demonstrated ideals of leadership, vision, creativity, and generosity.

The honoree(s) are recognized publicly for his or her accomplishments during Concordia's annual Volunteer Celebration held in conjunction with National Volunter Recognition Week, typically in April.

Current and former members of the Concordia University Foundation Board of Directors are honored for dedication to their mission to encourage philanthropic support and to manage the University's endowment.

Individual Honors: Dr. Ken Domroese ‘55Distinguished Service Award 2011

Since 2000, Dr. Ken Domroese ‘55, professor emeritus of biology, has been supporting the Cougar Men’s & Women’s Tennis team as a volunteer assistant coach. His dedicated hours of service and support to the tennis staff and athletes are immeasurable.

Founded in 1934, the Concordia University Auxiliary has contributed more than 75 years of dedicated service to the spiritual, intellectual, emotional and physical well being of the University. The Auxiliary has engaged thousands of Concordia alumni and friends through a variety of programs to benefit every University college and department through service, support and fellowship.

Individual Honors: Chick Lillis '76Distinguished Service Award 2010

Chick Lillis ’77 (pictured, left) is a founding member and retiring president of Concordia’s Board of Champions, a volunteer team making a difference in the future of Cougar athletics. An award-winning athlete and coach while at Concordia and beyond, Chick was instrumental in developing and chairing Concordia’s Celebration of Fifty Years of Women’s Athletics.
