The University Band of Concordia University Chicago will put on its annual spring concert for the public on Friday, March 28. The free performance will begin at 8 p.m. in the University’s Chapel of Our Lord.
The evening’s program will include, “Sailing with Whales” by Rossano Galante; “Perthshire Majesty” by Samuel Hazo, featuring Cody Stocker on soprano saxophone; “How to Train Your Dragon” by John Powell, arranged by Ton van Grevenbroek; “Love and Light” by Brian Balmages; and many more. The concert will be dedicated to Jean Harrison Bojes, who provided commentary at the University Band concerts for nearly 30 years and was a former assistant professor of music at Concordia-Chicago. Bojes passed away in February of this year.

Conductor Dr. Richard Fischer, distinguished professor of music and the Fred and Jane Wittlinger Endowed Chair for Music Performance, founded the University Band in 1993. In addition to his work at the University, he is in demand internationally as a guest conductor, clinician, presenter and adjudicator.
