Dr. Robert Wilhite appointed College of Graduate Studies dean at Concordia-Chicago


Concordia University Chicago is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Robert Wilhite as dean of the College of Graduate Studies.

Speakers announced for 7th annual International Conference on Ageing and Spirituality


Concordia University Chicago will bring together international researchers and scholars with expertise in aging, religion and spirituality, as well as practitioners, policy-makers, clergy, laypeople and care partners to explore how aging presents us with opportunities to navigate transitions over the life course. The International Conference on Ageing and Spirituality (ICAS) will take place June 4-7, 2017. Registration opens Dec. 1 at

Concordia-Chicago University Band to host Christmas concert


The University Band of Concordia University Chicago will perform its annual Christmas concert on Friday, Dec. 2 at 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Our Lord on campus. Admission is free.

Fine art meets graphic design in upcoming exhibit at Concordia-Chicago


The Ferguson Art Gallery at Concordia University Chicago presents a new exhibition, “The Best of Both Worlds: Graphic Design Meets Fine Art,” running Nov. 21 to Dec. 27. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Performances of "The Death and Life of John Smith" begin Nov. 11


The Collective, the theater production company of Concordia University Chicago, in association with Chicago Dramatists, presents “The Death and Life of John Smith” by Will Dunne. The play, directed by Rachel Edwards Harvith, will run Nov. 11, 12, 18 and 19 at 7:30 p.m., and Nov. 13 and 20 at 2 p.m. at the Madison Street Theatre, 1010 Madison St., Oak Park, IL.

ESL faculty at Concordia-Chicago receive national recognition


The ESL (English as a second language) faculty, within the Department of Teaching, Learning & Diversity at Concordia University Chicago, has received national recognition from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). The department, led by Dr. Carolyn Theard-Griggs, associate professor of curriculum and instruction, demonstrated that it meets the standards set by CAEP as well as TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages), the academic organization responsible for setting standards for the ESL discipline.

Concordia-Chicago awarded Gateways to Opportunity credential for early childhood education program


Early Childhood Education graduates in both the teacher-licensure and non-licensure track at Concordia University Chicago have been granted eligibility for the Illinois Gateways to Opportunity credentials. The credentials open doors for graduates who do not pursue teacher licensure to have careers in federal and state-funded early childhood education centers.

Concordia-Chicago's premier instrumental and choral ensembles to perform post-tour concerts


Concordia University Chicago’s Wind Symphony and Kapelle will each perform home concerts this fall in the Chapel of Our Lord on the university’s River Forest campus. Admission to both events is free.

Writers of mystery stories for young readers to share insights at Concordia-Chicago's Center for Literacy


Five Chicago-area mystery authors will gather for a presentation about writing and publishing stories for young readers in an event co-hosted by the Midwest Chapter of the Mystery Writers of America and Concordia University Chicago’s Center for Literacy on Sunday, Oct. 23, starting at 1 p.m.

Concordia University Chicago to offer Doctorate in Business Administration


Concordia University Chicago’s College of Business will begin offering a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) degree program. It has been approved by the Higher Learning Commission, which is the regional higher education accrediting organization in 19 Midwest and South-Central states. The University’s College of Business, founded in 2007, now offers a complete program of business studies to its students.
