Concordia University Chicago presents “Observations,” an art show that is free and open to the public. In this exhibition, Concordia-Chicago professor of art BettyAnn Mocek shares her latest drawings, mixed-media works, prints, photographs and video. The exhibit runs from October 5 to November 15 at the University’s Ferguson Art Gallery.
The Collective, Concordia University Chicago’s theater production company, is proud to present “Other Familiars” by Scott T. Barsotti. The play, directed by Jason Narvy, was commissioned by CUC as part of their ongoing relationship with Chicago Dramatists.
As part of Concordia University Chicago’s freshman experience, more than 250 new students recently participated in a day of service. The event, which kicked off the school year, connected student volunteers with organizations and agencies throughout the Chicago area.
Concordia University Chicago’s University Band will perform its annual Fall Family Concert on Friday, September 25. Admission is free, and the concert begins at 8 p.m. in the University’s Chapel of Our Lord.
Concordia University Chicago faculty member Dr. Rekha S. Rajan has received a $10,000 research grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). The award is the largest available to fund academic research of this type. The NEA funding will be matched by Concordia-Chicago at the $10,000 level. Dr. Rajan is a visiting associate professor of research in the University’s College of Graduate and Innovative Programs. As an arts education specialist, she holds a doctorate in music and music education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
Concordia University Chicago presents “Sense of Place,” an art exhibit that is free and open to the public. Pat Coffman Huss, artist and longtime art educator, and her daughter Nikkole Huss, associate professor of art at Concordia-Chicago, will exhibit together for the first time in a two-person show at the university’s Ferguson Art Gallery from August 10 to September 25.
Concordia University Chicago has been selected as both a 2015-16 College of Distinction and Christian College of Distinction. The University has been part of a select group of colleges to earn this prestigious recognition since 2010.
