The Ferguson Art Gallery at Concordia University Chicago presents the Student Art and Graduating Art Minors’ Show, from March 4 to April 3. The exhibition, an eclectic array of two and three-dimensional student artwork, is free and open to the public.
Concordia University Chicago announced today that a credit will be applied to the accounts of students who were eligible to receive Illinois MAP Grants during the 2015-2016 academic year. The decision affects 558 Concordia-Chicago undergraduate students who are current MAP Grant recipients.
Five graduates of Concordia University Chicago are among the honorees of the 2016 Lutheran Education Association (LEA) Awards. The LEA Awards honor outstanding teachers who are active in the Lutheran community and who are committed to meeting the social, emotional, spiritual and cognitive needs of children, youth, adults and families.
The Collective of Concordia University Chicago presents “Banish All the World,” an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “Henry IV” Parts 1 and 2. The play is directed by Brian Fruits and was adapted by Jason Narvy and Andrew Pederson, all faculty members at Concordia-Chicago.
Kayla Lohman, a senior at Concordia University Chicago, has been recognized as a Student Laureate of The Lincoln Academy of Illinois. The Abraham Lincoln Civic Engagement Awards are presented every year to a student from each of the four-year, degree-granting institutions in Illinois, for excellence in both curricular and extra-curricular programs.
The Ferguson Art Gallery at Concordia University Chicago presents the exhibit “Into the Woods” by Deb Herman, featuring artwork developed during and after a six-week stay alone in a North Carolina mountain cabin. The show, which will run from Jan. 11 to Feb. 25, is free and open to the public.
A team of Concordia University Chicago undergraduate students have come in first place in the Chicago IEEEXtreme 24-Hour Programming Competition. The students’ win in the Chicago Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) placed them 11th overall in IEEE Region 4, an area of 10 states in the greater Midwest.
Concordia University Chicago and Triton College have signed an articulation agreement for the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Under the agreement, students from Triton College who successfully follow the course of study will be able to transfer their credits at face value, and complete their bachelor’s degree in the College of Business at Concordia-Chicago.
The Ferguson Gallery at Concordia-Chicago presents “The Art of P. Solomon Raj,” an exhibit of original woodcut prints by the artist and educator from Andhra Pradesh, India. Solomon Raj’s prints were created as special meditations for the Twelve Days of Christmas and are on loan from St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Itasca, IL. The works will be on exhibit in the gallery from Nov. 23 to Dec. 27.
Concordia University Chicago and The Chicago Community Trust will present performances of Soul Sisters on Friday, Dec. 4 and Friday, Dec. 11, at 1 p.m. The shows will take place at Oak Park Township Services, 130 S. Oak Park Ave. in Oak Park, IL. Both performances are free and open to the public.
