"Eclectic Selection" to showcase artwork by Marcia Babler in Ferguson Art Gallery


Chicago artist Marcia Babler will exhibit more than 30 fine art pieces in her upcoming art show at the Ferguson Art Gallery at Concordia University Chicago. Entitled "Eclectic Selection," this collection of Babler's work features a wide variety of paintings, prints, collages, drawings and mixed media. The free, public exhibition is on display from Oct. 6 to Nov. 10.

The Collective production of "Antigone" opens Oct. 5


The Collective at Concordia University Chicago presents “Antigone,” the Greek tragedy by Sophocles, translation by Nicholas Rudall. The production, directed by Brian Fruits, will run Oct. 5, 6, 12 and 13 at 7:30 p.m., and Oct. 7 and 14 at 3 p.m. at the Madison Street Theatre, 1010 Madison St., Oak Park, IL.

University Band presents fall concert at Concordia-Chicago


The University Band of Concordia University Chicago will perform its annual fall concert on Friday, Sept. 28. The free concert will begin at 8 p.m. in the University’s Werner Auditorium.

Concordia-Chicago to host Lectures in Church Music Oct. 21-23


Registration is now open for Concordia University Chicago’s annual Vi Messerli Memorial Lectures in Church Music. The event, held from Sunday, Oct. 21 to Tuesday, Oct. 23, features two concerts, a keynote address, choral reading sessions and many workshops to choose from.

"Walk of Faith" photography exhibit opens Aug. 27 at Concordia-Chicago


The Ferguson Art Gallery at Concordia University Chicago presents “Walk of Faith: Photographic Memories of Home in Tarimoro, Guanajuato, Mexico,” by Alvaro Nieto, a collection of sepia and black and white photographs; beautiful glimpses of the land, faces and spiritual journey of a culture of people. The free, public exhibit will run from Aug. 27 to Sept. 28.

Concordia University Chicago again named a College of Distinction


Concordia University Chicago has been recognized for its committed implementation of “high-impact educational practices,” earning its title as one of the nation’s Colleges of Distinction for the ninth year in a row. This year the University receives recognition in five areas: College of Distinction, Illinois College of Distinction, Christian College of Distinction, College of Distinction–Business and College of Distinction–Education.

Concordia-Chicago to host annual Patriotic Pops Concert and Ice Cream Social


Honoring service men and women, while celebrating community and country with timeless music, the University Band of Concordia-Chicago will perform its annual Patriotic Pops Concert on Saturday, June 23 on the University campus.

Concordia-Chicago teacher education programs earn national recognition


The education programs at Concordia University Chicago have been awarded the coveted Educator Preparation accreditation by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). The awarding of the prestigious CAEP accreditation continues Concordia University Chicago’s tradition of excellence in educator preparation since 1864, when it was founded as Addison Teachers Seminary.
