Kapelle of Concordia-Chicago to perform free post-tour concert
The Kapelle, Concordia University Chicago’s premier choral ensemble, will present their spring home concert on Saturday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m., following their 10-day tour of Florida. The concert will be held in the Chapel of Our Lord on the university’s River Forest campus.
Known for beautiful singing and imaginative performances, The Kapelle’s concert program will feature music from their Florida concert tour repertoire. Composers Kenneth Jennings, Maurice Duruflé, Paul Mealor, Carl Schalk, David Hurd, Ola Gjeilo, Eleanor Daley, Rihards Dubra and Stacey Gibbs will focus on the concert theme, “God Is Love.” Song arrangements by Karen P. Thomas, Charles P. Brown and Thomas Gieschen will also be presented. The evening’s concert program will also premiere new works by Jonathan Kohrs, CUC assistant professor of music, and Dr. Jonathan Stahlke, CUC professor of music.
The Kapelle is conducted by Dr. Charles P. Brown, associate professor of music and director of choral activities. This select-voice choir tours annually throughout the United States and has traveled to Canada, the Baltic States, France, Russia and South America. Kapelle’s most recent international tour took them on cultural immersion trip through Poland.
