Wente Organ Recital
Concordia University Chicago will host a solo organ recital by Steve Wente, Chair of CUC’s Music Department, on Friday, September 19, at 8 p.m. The free event will take place in the Chapel of Our Lord on the University’s River Forest campus. Light refreshments will be served afterward.
The recital program will feature music directly connected to the University. “Snapshots of Concordia” will include pieces written by Concordia-Chicago faculty in the early to mid-1900s. Faculty who served in the latter half of the century are represented by works of Thomas Gieschen and Richard Hillert. A partita by Paul Bouman, alumnus of 1939, rounds out the Concordia portion of the program.
Other featured composers include Johann Sebastian Bach, the 19th Century German Joseph Rheinberger, and the 20th Century French composer Gaston Litaize.
The Concordia University Chicago campus is located at 7400 Augusta Street, River Forest. Free handicapped-accessible parking is available in the visitors’ lot north of the University parking structure on Bonnie Brae Street. Directions and maps are available at CUChicago.edu/map.
