Artists of Concordia Theatre Presents “Roustabout: The Great Circus Train Wreck!”
Concordia University Chicago’s Artists of Concordia Theatre will present “Roustabout: The Great Circus Train Wreck!” beginning February 13. Performances will take place at Concordia-Chicago’s new performance space in the Madison Street Theatre, 1010 Madison Street, Oak Park, IL.
Written by Jay Torrence and directed by award-winning director Halena Kays, “Roustabout: The Great Circus Train Wreck!” portrays the 1918 collision of the Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus train with a U.S. Army train through song, vignette, and circus performance. This unraveling story of war, humanism, and redemption is told with the visceral trademark meta-theatrical touch Kays is celebrated for.
Torrence, best known for his artistic directing career with Chicago’s venerated experimental theatre The Neo-Futurists, and Kays, artistic director for the Chicago theatre company The Hypocrites, are the creative team responsible for numerous critically acclaimed Chicago productions, including the hit “Burning Bluebeard."
Performances are February 13-15 and 20-22 at 7:30 p.m., and February 16 and 23 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for the general admission, with discounts for students and senior citizens.
