The office of Dr. David Rogner (BA ’82), distinguished professor emeritus of English and hymn writer, looked exactly as you’d expect: a dense jungle of books, papers, and mementos covering nearly every surface. “I’m not one of those clean desk people,” said Rogner as he tried to clear off a small portion of his desk. It was immediately clear that there wasn’t enough space to contain 40 years of service and scholarship.

The award honors outstanding Illinois-based teachers for making a meaningful and lasting impact on their students, school, and community.

Continuing faithful formation: Concordia-Chicago senior receives CTSFW scholarship award

Evan Magness, a senior in Concordia University Chicago’s Pre-Seminary program, recently received the Regents Scholarship Award from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Ind. The merit-based scholarship is awarded annually to two students who have demonstrated high academic achievement, a strong proficiency in biblical languages, and leadership potential for future ministry. It provides full tuition coverage, room and board, and books and fees.

This fall, Concordia University Chicago will host its 10th annual Maroon & Gold gala on Saturday, September 19, at the elegant Eaglewood Spa & Resort in Itasca, Ill. The group recently took the National Council State Board of Nursing Examination (NCLEX-RN), a necessary step before becoming registered nurses, and every student passed.
