Dr. Holwell uses material artifacts and literary sources to research cultural exchange and identity formation in the Roman world. His broader interests include comparative studies of imperialism, both ancient and modern. At Concordia-Chicago, he teaches courses in world history, European history, ancient Greek and Roman civilization and historiographical methodology.
