Remembering Irma Koehneke
Concordia University Chicago gives thanks to God for the life and faith of Irma Koehneke, former first lady of Concordia Teachers College (River Forest), who died in the faith on Friday, September 27.
She was a beloved wife and provided great support to President Emeritus Martin Koehneke in his tenure from 1954 to 1972. She is warmly remembered as an active participant in college and community organizations during that time. When the Lord led Irma and her husband to Aid Association for Lutherans (now Thrivent) in Appleton, Wisconsin, she brought her wisdom and counsel to his tasks there as well.
