The CUC Residence Life Experience

Concordia University Chicago's Residence Life Department seeks to provide a structured experience for all students living on campus. Our focused programming structure encourages success on our campus and to provide a smooth transition to college life and life beyond college.

The mission statement of the Residence Life program is:

“To aid students in their transition to college life at Concordia University Chicago academically, socially and spiritually, through empowerment, education, the development of critical thinking, and increasing their desire for learning and seeking out knowledge and new experiences.”

The Department of Residence Life and Housing is overseen by a team composed of current students and staff, including:

When living in a residence hall at Concordia–Chicago, it’s easy to immerse yourself in the campus community, including athleticsthe artsintramuralsspiritual life, volunteer work and so much more. 

CUC offers four different meal plan options for students who live on campus. The campus features different dining locations, ranging from a cafeteria-style, all-you-can-eat spot to a grab-and-go café.

Residence Halls

Concordia Hall is the University's newest residence hall. It offers flexible suite-style living with shared-bedroom and single-bedroom options. Each suite is fully furnished and includes two restrooms, a kitchenette (with microwave, sink and refrigerator), and living room area. Every floor is complete with a community lounge and full common kitchen.

Dimensions of David and Jonathan Halls:

  • All rooms are approximately 18 feet in length and nine feet wide with a height of eight feet.
  • Each room has two closets measuring 34 inches wide by 22 inches deep by 82 inches high.
  • Each room also features two windows, with dimensions of 101 inches wide by 48 inches high.

Building amenities:

  • David Hall is the men’s residence hall. This residence hall features suite-style living with a lounge on all of the three floors making up the building.
  • Jonathan Hall is the women’s residence hall. This hall mirrors David Hall in the same suite-style living with a lounge on each of the three floors comprising the building.

Kohn Hall room dimensions:

  • Odd-numbered rooms, with the exception of those ending in 23 and 37, are 15 feet long, 11 feet wide and have a height of nine feet.
    • Each room features two windows with dimensions of 39 inches wide by 59 inches high.
    • Each room has two closets measuring 35 inches wide by 29 inches deep by 70 inches high.
  • Even numbered rooms are 15 feet in length and vary in width from 11 feet to 14 feet with a height of nine feet.
    • Each room has two windows measuring 39 inches wide by 59 inches high.
    • Each room features two closets with dimensions of 35 inches wide by 29 inches deep by 70 inches high.

Lindemann and Krauss Halls room dimensions:

  • All rooms are approximately 12 feet in length and 14 feet in width with a height of nine feet.
  • Each room has two closets that are 35 inches wide by 22 inches deep by 87 inches high.
  • Each room features two windows measuring 41 inches wide by 60 inches high.

Living in Kohn, Lindemann or Krauss Halls, you never have to go outside, with easy access to the Library Cafe, the Klinck Library and Addison Hall, Concordia-Chicago's administration building.

Mary Martha and Trusheim Halls room dimensions:

  • Rooms 100-110; 200-216; 300-316: are 12 feet wide, 15 feet long with a height of eight feet.
    • There are two windows in each room that measure five feet wide by 62 inches high.
  • Rooms 219-240; 319-340: are 13 feet wide, 12 feet long with a height of eight feet.
    • Each room features one closet, measuring 80 inches wide by 26 inches deep by 98 inches high.
    • There are two windows in each room that are 123 inches wide by 49 inches high.
  • Rooms 221, 225, 235, 237, 321, 325, 335, 337: are three-person rooms and are 20 feet wide, 13 feet in length with a height of eight feet.
    • There are two closets in each room, measuring 80 inches wide by 26 inches deep by 98 inches high.
    • There are also three windows in each room.
    • The double set of windows measures 123 inches wide by 49 inches high.
    • The single window is half of those measurements.

Mary Martha Hall is centrally located on campus between the Koehneke Community Center and the Klinck Library.
