Concordia-Chicago Art Gallery Hosts The Work of Jennifer Scott

Artist Jennifer Scott will exhibit her current work from January 14 through February 17, at the Ferguson Art Gallery at Concordia University Chicago.

Scott, of Chicago, is accomplished in several mediums including printmaking, painting, drawing and collage. Her work with ethnic/indigenous communities informs the content of her art. She explores and exposes her own inner dialogue on the complex issue of human interaction.

According to Scott, “My current work focuses on the relationship between form and figures and the intimacy of those figures in a space. My goal is to capture the quiet moments between subjects that are centered on one activity. The figures' gestures and postures also become important clues in these narratives.”

The Ferguson Art Gallery is located in Kretzmann Hall at Concordia University Chicago, 7400 Augusta St., River Forest. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, call 708-209-3013.

Bringing the region’s rich diversity of visual art to the Oak Park/River Forest and University communities, Ferguson Art Gallery at Concordia University Chicago showcases the works of established and upcoming Chicago-area artists in five to six exhibits each year, including special events celebrating African-American perspective, Hispanic heritage, women’s history and Chicago history.

The gallery is directed by BettyAnn Mocek, Concordia professor of art and a prominent Chicago artist, educator and arts advocate through her work with the Chicago Coalition of Artists, the Chicago Society of Artists and others.
