Social Work Department

It takes a special person to care for the needs of others, to listen with an open heart, to establish trust and confidence in a helping relationship. If you possess these qualities, you could be heading for a career in social work. At Concordia University Chicago, we want you to explore this field through our challenging curriculum and field experience opportunities.

Introduction to Social Welfare, a class you can take your first year at Concordia, takes you to a number of different social work settings to explore the practice of social work. Learn firsthand from people already in the field and find out if social work is truly for you.

Field experience lets you apply theories and concepts you have learned in class to real world settings. You will receive extensive exposure to different areas of social work and still be able to arrange the experience to satisfy your specific goals and needs. As the field experience continues, your faculty advisor will work closely with you to assist your progress. The bottom line for our students is that they get the experience they want and need.

To be considered for a major in social work, please contact Dr. Carol Jabs at (708) 209-3145 or email Dr. Carol Jabs to receive the required admission packet.
