Are you passionate about the performing arts but aren't as interested in practicing the arts? Are you passionate about performing, but also interested in the business aspects of theatre? The Theatre Arts Administration program at CUC offers you the opportunity to explore both the theatre and business side through two different degree tracks.
Through this program, you will take classes in both College of Arts & Sciences and the College of Business. Our program is designed for those with interest in the production and managerial aspects of theatre. Both degree tracks require you to take comprehensive business and theatre courses.
Our bachelor of science degree is in business administration with an emphasis in theatre arts administration, and is for those looking to explore the administrative side of theatre while incorporating the arts into their studies. Our bachelor of arts degree in theatre arts administration is suited for someone interested in working in theatre as a performing artist, who also wants to understand the business side of theatre.
General Course Information
Courses will vary pending the degree track you choose: bachelor of arts or bachelor of science. The bachelor of science requires more business core courses, while the bachelor of arts requires more theater core courses. Both offer numerous elective choices in theater and business.
Our courses are designed to teach you the foundations of both theatre and business, and how they intersect in arts administration. Required courses emphasize the performing and technical aspects of theatre through history, foundations, acting, directing and more. Simultaneously, you will study the business side of theatre, with courses covering accounting, economics, management, marketing, finance and more. The bachelor of science degree track also includes not-for-profit courses that emphasize accounting, finance, board governance, policy, grants and contract management.
