      First established in 1864 as Addison Teachers Seminary, Concordia University Chicago continues its proud legacy of educating teachers for private and public schools. Students who major in early childhood education learn how to teach children from infancy through third grade. Hands-on experience is a cornerstone of our program.

      Elementary education teachers focus on instructing children from the first through sixth grades, usually in art, language arts, math, music, physical education, reading, science and social studies. They typically teach several subjects to one classroom of students, although teachers may work together in teams.

    3. Emergency Medical Services

      The Emergency Medical Services program ensures you are ready for life-saving careers in critical care transport, aeromedical services, disaster management and industrial medicine. Most EMS graduates are hired by private service, fire department, municipal/governmental or hospital-based ambulance companies.

      A liberal arts degree in English prepares you to read and interpret texts, think critically, and write effectively.  Literary study also focuses on deepening your understanding of human life and culture.   An English degree can prepare you for a variety of different careers.  Many students also use the B.A. in English as preparation for graduate study, either in English or in other areas like ministry, law, or library science.

      Environmental scientists study how humans, industry, production and pollution sources affect nature and the environment.
