BGI Campaign: From President Johnson

A Letter from the President

FULFILLING OUR MISSION

Established during the Civil War, Concordia University Chicago tells a remarkable story. Always inspired and shaped by its mission of Christian education, Concordia is thriving—experiencing growth and innovation as it responds to the opportunities and needs in the church and society.

As part of its overall strategy, the university has launched an ambitious and aggressive fundraising initiative to strengthen its position. With the approval of the University’s Board of Regents and the Concordia University Foundation Board of Directors, the university has initiated a $22 million comprehensive campaign, Build. Grow. Inspire. This important campaign will enable the University to prepare leaders for service in the world that greatly needs faith-centered, value-based and academically-advanced higher education. The campaign began on July 1, 2008, and will end on June 30, 2012.

Visionary planning and philanthropic opportunities will significantly enhance the university’s capacity to press forward beyond the many milestones it has recently achieved:

  • an enrollment of over 5000 students in the fall of 2009;
  • a recipient of the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll;
  • 101 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degree programs;
  • a partnership with Fifth Third Bank in “Tomorrow’s Promise: Vision 2020."

This campaign, Build. Grow. Inspire., will secure greater resources to advance the university. More than $7.4 million has been raised to date, including $406,000 from the campus community. As a result, a new Center for Church Music has been inaugurated and other exciting plans are underway. Please consider joining in this historical endeavor.

Dr. John F. Johnson,
President
