Homecoming & Reunion Week 2012 Celebrates Concordia Community
The leaves on campus were changing into beautiful shades of maroon and gold as the Concordia community celebrated Homecoming & Reunion Week Sept. 30 - Oct. 7. This year’s festivities focused on the groups and teams that make up our unique community of individuals.
A busy week of student activities included an Ice Cream Social Meet & Greet with the 2012 Homecoming Court, the third annual “Minute to Win It” challenge and an Iceless Ice Skating Rink. Ethan McBee and Cassie Irwin were crowned Homecoming King and Queen at Friday’s pep rally to energize fans for Saturday’s football 21-9 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran College.
Alumni from across the years gathered to celebrate over the weekend. Friday’s first-ever African-American and Latino Alumni Networking Event brought together student and degreed alumni. Saturday morning featured the induction of Alan Behnke ’65, Tim Concannon ’91 and Dr. Sherwin Ho into the Athletic Hall of Fame. After the football game, Wrestling and GOLD Rush (Graduates of the Last Decade) Alumni gathered for a fifth quarter reunion.

Celebrations will highlight the 100th Anniversary of Concordia’s River Forest campus. Plans are also in the works to mark Charlie T. Cougar’s 80th Birthday with all Mascot Alumni as well as a “Taste of Concordia” featuring the fare from favorite local restaurants. Save the date to join classmates on campus. Details and Online Registration will be available in early July.
