Katie, it is true that CUC inspires leadership?

Yes, for me it was right from the start as a freshman.

Can you give any examples?

I value the many opportunities to try something new, from handing out water at the Chicago Marathon for my Fitness and Wellness class to volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club of West Cook County with my freshman Freedom and Responsibility class. I got to experience something I’ve never experienced before. But what I’m most passionate about is working as the manager of CUC’s women’s basketball team. As a varsity basketball player in high school, I knew I wanted to be involved in the sport during college but not necessarily as a player. I feel proud that I actively sought out this leadership opportunity by approaching CUC’s basketball coach to ask about being the team’s manager. My job as manager of the women’s basketball team has been a huge thing! I would not have had such amazing opportunities, like traveling with the team to Texas over Christmas break, otherwise.
