Maggie Anderson, Keynote Speaker

Maggie Anderson and her family made history and dominated headlines as national media covered their real-life case study in self help economics in the Black community. It was called The Empowerment Experience (EE) and resulted in a landmark study conducted by Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Business. Since the completion of their experiment Anderson has become the voice of American consumers of all backgrounds who want to make sure their buying power positively impacts struggling communities.

The true story of three Aboriginal girls of mixed race who escape from a settlement camp after being removed from their outback community has been turned into a powerful cinematic folk ballad celebrating their courage.

"First Generation" tells the story of 4 high school students who set out to break the cycle of poverty and bring hope to their families and communities by pursuing a college education.

His congregation is multicultural, multilingual and multigenerational and has been recognized both as one of the fastest growing congregations in the Lutheran Church- Missouri Synod and as a laboratory for future pastors and deaconesses of the church who desire to learn about urban and multicultural ministry.
