March 15, 2011—After five consecutive years of hosting Relay for Life, Concordia University Chicago will host its first Mini-Relay for Life of Concordia-Dominican April 9.
The event will be held 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Concordia’s track. Concordia and Dominican universities’ Relay organizers selected the Carnival of HOPE as their 2011 event theme, toward reaching a $15,000 fundraising goal.
All are invited to stop by throughout the day and participate in events including ultimate Twister, bags and HillBilly Golf tournaments, themed laps, face painting, obstacle courses and much more. Free, handicapped-accessible parking is available in visitors’ lot north of the University parking structure off Bonnie Brae Street.
“Even though we are trying something new this year with the mini relay, it’s inspirational to see people still be as passionate about Relay,” said Erin Zimdars, Concordia student and event co-chair. “I am so glad to have so many volunteers working hard to make this event a success.”
Concordia and Dominican organizers invite cancer survivors, caregivers and all community advocates to take part in Relay for Life by joining or organizing a team or donating. Register at www.relayforlifecdt.com or contact Bethany Hein at 708-209-3555 or bethany.hein@cuchicago.edu.
