Chicago in a World of Gangs
November 06, 2013 at 07:00 PM
Global Justice Series presents: Chicago in a World of Gangs on Wednesday, November 6, 2013. Author, Dr. John Hagedorn, Professor of Criminology, Law, and Justice – University of Illinois-Chicago, will lead a discussion from 7 to 8 p.m. in the KCC Oak Park River Forest Room.
Dr. Hagedorn will look at gangs from a global perspective, assess trends to explain why they are not going away, and review recent fundamental changes in the nature of gangs in Chicago. He will discuss how these changes explain why homicides in Chicago today, though only occurring at half the rate as in the mid-1990s, are less controlled and more dangerous.
