The Addison Society

Establish a legacy for Concordia University through a planned gift and become a member of the Addison Society . . .

The Addison Society was founded in 1990 to recognize individuals and families who have thoughtfully and generously included a gift to Concordia University in their will, or through another planned gift arrangement. Today, over 200 families representing both alumni and friends of the university are members of the Addison Society. These loyal individuals uphold the high standards and traditions of the past, yet are partners in Concordia's plans for the future. Whether their legacy will support the current needs of the university, or be used to establish an endowment, Addison participants will forever benefit generations of students, and the lives of those they touch.

Members of the Addison Society receive a certificate and token of appreciation, and are invited to attend special functions hosted by the President of the university. For those who prefer to anonymously support the university, their gift and membership in the Addison Society will remain confidential.

Membership in the Addison Society can be achieved when a donor creates one or more of the following gift plans:

Bequest under a Will or Living Trust

Gift Annuity

Charitable Remainder Trust

Life Insurance policy or beneficiary designation

Beneficiary Designations from retirement and other accounts

Wealth Replacement Trust

Donor Advised Fund

Life Estate

Pooled Income Fund

Charitable Lead Trust

Each of these traditional gift plans provides special tax advantages to the donor. The life income agreements, such as gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts, also provide income payments for life. Payments can be at fixed or variable amounts; they may begin immediately, or be postponed until a later date when a greater level of income is desired. Since there are several planned gift options to choose from, Concordia provides interested persons with counseling services for Planned Giving. Concordia will be most happy to explain how the various gift plans work, and help ensure that the plan you select is right for you and your family, and consistent with your goals for the future of Concordia.
