General eligibility requirements for financial assistance:
- Must be admitted and enrolled in a Concordia University Chicago eligible degree program.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or eligible non-citizen with a valid Social Security Number.
- Must maintain satisfactory academic progress.
- Must not owe a federal grant or loan program for prior enrollment changes.
- Must not be in default on a federal student loan
1. Complete the 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to the U.S. Department of Education at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The U.S. Department of Education will electronically forward your FAFSA results to Concordia University Chicago when you enter our Federal School Code 001666. Applications will be accepted beginning January 2, 2008.
- A FAFSA worksheet is available to assist you with your online application and may be obtained at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/before012.htm.
- Student and parent(s) will need the following information for the FAFSA application: Social Security Number, State Driving License Number, 2007 W-2 and Federal Income Tax information, details about bank accounts, net worth dollar amount for investments and businesses, and dollar values for untaxed income.
- If you are selected for verification, additional documents may be required by the U.S. Department of Education and/or the Office of Student Financial Planning. As soon as the Office of Student Financial Planning has received your FAFSA results, you will be advised about the status of your application for financial assistance, and if any additional information will be required by the Office of Student Financial Planning. Concordia University Chicago priority awarding will begin April 1st!
- If you estimated your income information on your FAFSA, please be sure to update the information once you complete your income tax return. This will hold your financial aid processing if incomplete.
2. Complete the 2008-2009 District Financial Aid Application
- All students who are members of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod should complete an LCMS District Financial Aid Application. LCMS and non-LCMS students are also encouraged to contact their home congregation with the Congregational Statement of Student Support. When completed, the LCMS District Financial Aid Application and the Congregational Statement of Student Support should be returned to the Office of Student Financial Planning.

- Must be a U.S. Citizen or eligible non-citizen with a valid Social Security Number.
- Must make satisfactory academic progress.
- Must be registered with the Selective Service (if male).
- Must not owe a federal grant or loan program for prior enrollment changes.
- Must not be in default on a federal student loan.
1. Complete the Undergraduate Admission Process
- To be eligible for Federal and State financial aid, students must be admitted in a degree seeking program. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will notify the Office of Student Financial Planning when you have completed this process.
2. Complete the 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to the U.S. Department of Education at www.fafsa.ed.gov. 1. Complete the graduate admission process.
- To be eligible for Federal Stafford loans, students must be admitted to and enrolled in a degree-seeking graduate educational program. The Office of Graduate Admission will advise the Office of Student Financial Planning when you have completed this process.
- Students who start classes prior to being officially admitted to a degree seeking program are considered guest students. Guest students are not eligible to receive financial aid and must make payment arrangements with Business Services to cover their tuition expenses.
2. Complete the 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- This is an online application submitted to the U.S. Department of Education – www.fafsa.ed.gov. In order for our institution to receive the results, applicants must enter the Federal School Code (001666) for Concordia University Chicago. NOTE: The FAFSA must be completed each academic year.
- If you are selected for verification, you may be required to submit additional documentation to the Office of Student Financial Planning in order to determine financial aid eligibility.
- If you estimated your income information on your FAFSA, please be sure to update the information once you complete your income tax return. This will hold your financial aid processing if incomplete.
3. Complete the 2008-2009 Graduate Student Loan Request.
- You must complete the 2008-2009 Graduate Student Loan Request form and return it to our office as soon as possible. This will allow our office to award you accordingly for the entire 2008-2009 academic year.
- Graduate students are eligible for a total of $20,500 in Stafford loans for one academic year. Although you may borrow up to the maximum, we strongly encourage you to borrow only the amount needed to cover your tuition, fees and books. This will keep your loan debt to a minimum and will allow for a smaller monthly payment after leaving Concordia University Chicago.
- Loan request forms submitted by students who have not been officially admitted to a degree seeking program (guest student), will not be processed until the Office of Student Financial Planning is notified of acceptance to the program.
Avoid Delays: In order to assure that your student loans will arrive in a timely manner, the Office of Student Financial Planning strongly encourages students to submit all required documents as soon as possible each academic year. Remember, financial aid can only be offered to students who are admitted to a degree-seeking graduate program. Semesters attended as a guest student cannot be included in calculating your financial aid eligibility. All guest students will be required to make other payment arrangements with Business Services.

Important Requirements to be Eligible to Apply for Federal and State Financial Aid:

- Must not owe on a previous federal grant or loan program
- Must not be in default on a federal student loan
1. Complete the Adult Degree Completion Program admission process.
- To be eligible for financial assistance, students must be admitted to and enrolled in a degree-seeking Adult Degree Completion Program. The Adult Degree Program Office will advise the Office of Student Financial Planning when you have completed this process.
- Students who have not been admitted into the University are considered guest students. Guest students are not eligible to receive Federal or State financial aid. Please be sure to contact Business Services to make other payment arrangements for any registered course(s).
2. Complete the 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
