Concordia University Celebrates Latino History Month
Curator Dolores Mercado presents
Stitches of the Soul / Las puntadas del alma,
Lucy Campos, Christina Carlos, Socorro Carlos, Daisy Carranza, Martha Dominguez-Díaz, Maria G. Herrera, Beatríz Jiménez, Florinda Malacara and María Tortolero.
The artists are all women and are supported by the National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago, Illinois. The group grew out of a workshop in 2008 and continues to meet twice a month at the Museum with the coordination of Dolores Mercado, Associate Curator. Artists share their experiences regarding different subjects such as family celebrations, identity, daily lives, as well as stories of immigration, violence against women and slavery.
