Head Athletic Trainer
Terri J. Woods

Terri J. Woods, Head Athletic Trainer for Concordia University Chicago since 1984, earned her Bachelor of Science in education in 1982 from Central Missouri State University and her Master of Science degree in 1983 from Illinois State University. Upon coming to Concordia, she designed and established the University's athletic training facilities. As an Assistant Professor, she taught courses in athletic training, standard first aid and fitness evaluation for the Human Performance Department for 16 years. Woods became the first full-time certified athletic trainer in Concordia's history in 1999 and was inducted into the Cougar Sports Hall of Fame in 2003.

Woods' expertise in athletic training has extended to 1987 visits to the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs and as a PAXI Volunteer Host Athletic Trainer for the 10th Pan-American Games in Indianapolis. Woods has been a room captain for the NATABOC certification examination in the Chicagoland area since 1991 and is a member of Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington where she participates in the church's medical ministry and Camp Paradise.

Woods became a certified athletic trainer through NATABOC in 1984. She is licensed as an athletic trainer and basic emergency medical technician in the state of Illinois. Woods is also an American Red Cross instructor of first aid, CPR and AED. She is a member of the National, Great Lakes and Illinois Athletic Trainers' Associations.

Assistant Athletic Trainer
Margaret A. Rall

Margaret Rall, assistant athletic trainer for Concordia University Chicago, joined the staff in October of 2006. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science from Truman State University in 2002 and her Master of Education, Exercise Science degree from Wichita State University in 2005. While at Wichita State, she worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the Shockers' baseball team. Margaret spent the summer as athletic trainer for the Windy City Thunderbolts, a minor league independent baseball team in Crestwood, Illinois. Here at Concordia, her primary responsibilities are football, men's basketball and baseball.

Rall became a certified athletic trainer through the National Athletic Trainer's Association Board of Certification in September of 2002. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association and the American College of Sports Medicine. Margaret is pursuing a career as an athletic trainer in professional baseball and hopes to work in the major leagues.

 

Assistant Athletic Trainer
Kim Kistler
Kim Kistler, contracted through AthletiCo Physical Therapy, comes to Concordia after spending the fall and winter of 2006 with Dominican University and Guerin College Preparatory High School, and the spring of 2007 with Glenbard South High School. Before joining AthletiCo in 2006, she spent three years as the assistant athletic trainer for Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. While at Macalester, Kim worked with men's and women's soccer, men's basketball, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's track and field. During the 2004 and 2005 soccer seasons, she had the opportunity to travel with Macalester's men's and women's teams to the NCAA playoffs.

A 2000 graduate of New Mexico State University, Kim holds a bachelor of science in athletic training education. She was a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the softball program at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas before returning to NMSU as an intern athletic trainer in 2001; while there, she worked with football, women's basketball, volleyball and softball. Kim also served an internship with the Seattle Sounders professional soccer team.

Kim completed her Master's of education in 2006 at the University of Minnesota. She has been a certified athletic trainer since 2001 and will be completing her performance enhancement specialization certification this fall.

 

Team Physician
Sherwin S.W. Ho, MD

Head team physician at Concordia University Chicago since 1991, Dr. Ho received his Bachelor of Arts in zoology in 1980 from the University of Hawaii, going on to receive his M.D. from the University of Hawaii's John A. Burns School of Medicine. He pursued orthopaedic surgery by completing a surgery internship and research residency at the University of Cincinnati as well as an orthopaedic residency at the University of Hawaii. Upon completing a sports medicine fellowship in 1992 at the University of Chicago, Dr. Ho became a faculty member and an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the section of Orthopaedic and Rehabilitative Medicine. He currently serves as Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery at the University of Chicago.

Dr. Ho has given several presentations on orthopaedics, both nationally and internationally, and has done extensive research in the areas of sports medicine and rehabilitation. He observes Concordia football games from the sidelines and is accessible for other athletic events.

During the academic school year, Dr. Ho also follows up with student-athletes at our Concordia injury clinic. We are truly blessed to have a team physician who contributes in so many ways to the Cougar community.

 

 

Team Physician
Michael A. Terry, MD

A team physician at Concordia University Chicago since 2004, Dr. Terry received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with honors in 1994 from the University of Illinois, going on to receive his M.D. from the University of Chicago - Pritzker School of Medicine. He pursued orthopaedic surgery by completing a surgery residency at The Hospital for Special Surgery at Cornell. Dr. Terry completed a sports medicine fellowship in 2004 at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado. He currently serves as Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Section of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Chicago.

Dr. Terry has worked with such teams as the MLB's Colorado Rockies and the NFL's Denver Broncos. He has served as a traveling physician for the U.S. Ski Team in 2003 and is presently team physician for the USA Volleyball Team.

During the academic school year, Dr. Terry splits time with Dr. Ho during our weekly injury clinic.

Assistant Team Physician
Greg Crovetti, MD

An assistant team physician at Concordia University Chicago since 2000, Dr. Crovetti received his Bachelor of Science in zoology and chemistry in 1991 from Eastern Illinois University, going on to receive his M.D. from Loyola University of Chicago - Stritch School of Medicine. Upon completing a sports medicine fellowship in 2000 at the University of Kentucky, Dr. Crovetti became the Director of Sports Medicine for Marianjoy Rehabilitation and West Suburban Hospitals from 2001-2002. He is specializing in sports  and internal medicine at Trinity Orthopaedics in Oak Park, Illinois. Dr. Crovetti also serves as team physician for several local colleges and high schools.

Dr. Crovetti is a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Naval Reserve. He was deployed in January 2005 to serve at a military hospital at Camp Arifjan in Kuwait.
