Koehneke Community Center and Sports Facilities

K o e h n e k e C o m m u n i t y C e n t e r

The Koehneke Community Center, often referred to as the “KCC”, is the living room of the campus. Here students, faculty, staff, and members of the community gather to have meetings, eat meals, and attend conferences or presentations. The KCC provides many opportunities for student interaction and community involvement through auxiliary services and a wide variety of activities. The daily schedule of events within the building are posted on the LCD screen located near the front desk.

A large portion of the center's 69,000 square feet functions as the food service area. The Crossroads Dining Hall is the main source of meals for students, but it is also a great option for meals for faculty, staff, and visitors. The dining hall is on the main level, snack bar on the lower level, and banquet rooms on all levels. Additional services on the lower level include the Campus Bookstore and the Post Office

Informal meetings often take place in the many lounges and common areas found throughout the KCC. The Coordinator of Campus Events (708-209-3091- ext. 3091 if on campus) handles all coordination of non-registar room usage. Therefore, if the event is not a scheduled class, the coordinator must be notified.  The coordinator also oversees the Conference Services Assistants who are stationed at The Information Desk located through the main revolving door entrance to the building. These student workers also handle all set ups and take downs required for conference room needs. A current campus activity schedule is kept at the front desk to assist as needed. The lost and found for the University is also located at the information desk with all items under lock and key. The CSA on duty can be reached at the front desk by phone and will return messages as able (708-209-3090- ext 3090 on campus).

Student use of University facilities or equipment for private gain is not permitted. All campus scheduling- including classrooms (for events other than classes) are reserved through the KCC office (same telephone number listed above). All faculty, staff, students, and contracted groups are strongly encouraged to reserve meeting space for all meetings, conferences, and events with as much lead time possible to assure a well-coordinated event. All rental inquiries are welcome with the understanding that University-sponsored events maintain priority for room usage. The University welcomes community use of facilities, and the coordinator in the KCC takes all inquiries Monday through Friday and returns calls in order of receipt.

Job Board

The university receives requests from residents and businesses in the surrounding communities for employment of students on a part-time basis. These jobs include many types of employment, such as babysitting, cleaning, painting, yard work, clerical duties, sales work, etc. Students interested in finding an off-campus job should check the job bulletin boards on the lower level regularly, as many ads are added per week. Those interested in posting an ad on this board may do so in one of three ways: 1. e-mail the ad campus.events@cuchicago.edu, 2. call 708-209-3090 and ask the CSA to hand-write an ad into an available template, or 3. drop-off the ad to the front desk. All ads will remain posted for a one month period, and they must be approved by the coordinator. Please make sure all ads list a way to contact you- be it via e-mail, telephone, etc.
