Dr. Wente teaches applied organ, music history and church music. In addition, he serves as department chair and coordinator for the graduate music programs. Among his research interests are organ music from the baroque period and the role of music in the liturgy.
He has performed numerous organ recitals and presented workshops and hymn festivals. Additionally, Dr. Wente contributed to Key Words in Church Music and Thine the Amen: Essays on Lutheran Church Music in Honor of Carl Schalk. He has been a member of Concordia’s faculty since 1984.
